One Fourth

Nine squares done, twenty-seven more to go.  Let's see, it took 4 months to do these, so if I keep knitting at the same rate... I'll have a finished blanket-quilt about a year from now!

Knitting and counting out communion wafers have made all those years of math classes worth it.  When Little Charlie complains, "Why do I have to learn this?" I will be able to answer with confidence, "So you can cast on the right number of stitches and not run out of bread."

The colors for this blanket-quilt were inspired by the duvet cover we bought while living in New York to brighten our down comforter.  There's not much need for a down comforter in Jackson, unfortunately, so the duvet cover is in the linen closet longing for a colder climate.  Meanwhile, nine cotton log cabin squares are longing to become one big cotton blanket-quilt to whisper warmth on a cool Mississippi night.

Loving your photos and your justification for math! You'll need math even more with sewing and quilting! Maybe you'll speed up your squares over the summer and cut your project time in half!

That is BEAUTIFUL, Jennifer! I love it. I need to go work on Caleb's blanket now . . .

"Cool Mississippi night-" now that is an oxymoron for 1/4 of the year! I remember when you started the first square, and will rejoice with you when you finish the final square!

Peace-
